The Greene County girls basketball team traveled to Perry Tuesday night and lost 70-38 to the Perry Jayettes. The Rams’ 38 points were well ahead of their 31-point average.
The Rams fell behind 14-9 in the first quarter. They were done 32-14 at intermission and 44-29 after three quarters. The Rams scored 13 points to the Jayettes’ 16 in the fourth quarter.
Senior Kenna Marquart led the Rams in scoring with 10 points, followed by senior Hanna Promes with nine. Junior Laurin Lyons scored seven, juniors Ashley Millard and Samantha Hardaway scored four each, and junior Regan Lamoureux and freshman Bailey Cunningham added two each.
Hardaway led the team in rebounds with six, while Lyons and five and senior Taylor Wessling, Marquart and Promes had four each.
As a team the Rams shot at 39 percent from the floor and 55 percent from the free throw line.
The Rams are 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. They host the Gilbert Tigers Friday in the middle school gymnasium. The Tigers have a similar record at 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The girls game will start at 6 pm.
